Crossover Spotlight: Video Game Music

The music of the legendary Final Fantasy video game series is so equally legendary that its best pieces (most of them composed by the brilliant Nobuo Uematsu) get performed as a live orchestral concert called Distant Worlds. For those of us who missed it when it came near their hometowns…sigh…there is one other channel for appreciating the soundtracks of Final Fantasy in a unique and interactive way. That channel is the 3DS game Theatrhythm; rather than explaining to you how it works, just watch this trailer for the upcoming sequel!

I have also thought for a long time that the plots of some Final Fantasy titles are dramatically strong enough that they would make excellent operas or films. So your food for thought this week is- who would you cast in a movie or musical adaptation of a Final Fantasy title? LET’S START A DISCUSSION!
