30DDC- Day Sixteen

Favorite Singing Voice

Lots of Disney characters can sing well- it’s practically in the job description- but for me, one stands out above the rest.

Pocahontas is voiced by Native American actress Irene Bedard, but her singing voice was provided by none other than a beloved Broadway baby: Judy Kuhn. From Les Miserables to She Loves Me to Passion to Fun Home, Kuhn is one of the most versatile stage performers out there. I met her this year at an event, and she was very sweet. I remember saying to her, “I’ve always wondered what your speaking voice sounded like, because I have only heard you sing!”

"I am a seagull, I am an actress." -Anton Chekhov (And sometimes I like to write stuff, too.)
